It was originally designed for Queen Victoria in 1853, and Prince Albert is believed to have been involved in its creation by Garrard, which describes its style as an Indian-inspired design of lotus flowers and Mughal arches. It was originally set with opals, which Garrard says were one of his favourite gemstones
Even so, he still has a lot to learn, and every new lesson seems to strengthen his love for sewing and for the hina dolls his grandfather taught him to make
